Welcome to Houger Home

Welcome to the HougerHome.com homepage!

The focus of this website is to introduce Weldyn and Barb Houger to you and the vast mission field of Asia Pacific Region. It is their desire that this means of communication will keep you informed of what is happening in the lives of Weldyn and Barb.

Weldyn and Barb are Co-Directors for the Asia Pacific Education Office (APEO). The focus of this ministry is to assist and partner with Bible Colleges throughout the Asia Pacific Region. This ministry will concentrate on faculty development, e.g. helping the teachers to become more integrative in their teaching. Furthermore, assistance will be given in the area of theological curriculum relevancy. All theological curricula should be relevant to Asian societies and concerns, which include the postmodern youth, the common laborers, the farmers, and the urbanites.

In addition to the above field duties, Weldyn and Barb teach at Northwest University (Kirkland, WA) as the AGWM (Assemblies of God World Missioins) Liaison to Northwest University, Kirkland, WA. They also serve as the Coordinator for Intercultural Studies Program. These positions allows them to teach classes, mentor students, and have many one on one sessions with students interested in missions and cross cultural ministries. Equally important they bring the mission field concepts and reports into the classroom.

Please take time to look through the various pages of the website. From time to time we will add new pictures. Please feel free to download the pictures for use in your church bulletin or newsletters, Sunday School communiqués, or any mission related publications.

Weldyn and Barb’s compassion and vision is to disciple and train Asians for full time ministry, as well as for preparation to serve in the local church. They desire to train Asians to reach Asia!

Please take time to review the home page news update. We desire to see the Kingdom of God expanded and reaching into all people groups. Prayer is the key for church planting, harvesting, and an essential element to maintain a Christian presence within the local community of Christ's followers.

Newsflash

Someone had been stealing chickens.  If caught, the offender would receive 10 lashes with a whip.  This punishment was ordered by the Tribal Chief.  The stealing continued.

The punishment was raised to 20 lashes.  Still, the chickens methodically disappeared.

The Chief was angry!  The tribe depended upon those chickens for winter food.  The punishment was raised to 100 lashes, unbearable for anyone.

The thief was finally caught, but the chief faced a big problem—a terrible dilemma.  The thief wasn’t just anyone—the thief was his own Mother!!  How could the chief show love for his Mother, and still be just and keep his word??  Would the Chief’s love override his justice?

When the day of penalty came, the whole tribe gathered together.  The crowd gasped when he ordered his Mother to be tied to the whipping post!  The Chief removed his shirt, revealing his powerful stature.  He took the terrible whip in hand.  But instead of raising it to strike the first blow, he handed it to a strong, young brave standing at his side.

Slowly the chief walked over to his mother and wrapped his massive, protective arms around her in an engulfing embrace.  Then he ordered the brave to give HIM the 100 lashes.

Remember Jesus’ love for us:  He became our substitute. He took the punishment for our sins. He, the sinless Lamb of God, took our place.
